Sinfonia 28 July to 4 August
Oliver Nelson
Conductor
The Sinfonia welcomes orchestral instrumentalists of a wide range of standards from Grades 5 to 8 and upwards. It is suitable for the experienced amateur, late learner and those returning after a playing break.
The ethos of the course is friendly, supportive and enthusiastic, combining the warmth and camaraderie of a community orchestra with an aspirational approach to learning some of the great works from the classical period to the twentieth century. Instrumentalists of all types are welcome and it will suit both players who wish to further their orchestral experience and those who wish to expand their musical skills
Aside from rehearsals and an informal concert towards the end of the week, there is ample leisure time in which course members can opt to form chamber music groups, attend professional and student recitals and concerts, or simply socialise and relax.
